Imagine the clip-clop of a horse and buggy or bumping along in your ‘Tin Lizzie’ and you can just smell and feel Loma Vista’s original old dirt road back in 1914 when we first started. Imagine looking to the west from the old dirt road and viewing acres of citrus and walnut trees and and sheep grazing on what was once the Bastanchury Ranch.

Ninety-eight years later the old dirt road has become Holly Oak Lane, featuring an innovative and exclusive area for burials and cremation. Some of the orchards may be missing but you can still view our same trees and listen to the beauty and sounds of rustling leaves and the chirping California Bluebirds as well as smell the rosemary and lavender. As you walk the lane you’ll see burial sites of some of the soldiers who fought in the Spanish American and Civil Wars as well as WWI and some of the pioneers of Fullerton. The Old Road Estates and Cremation Garden will be open in early November of 2012.

We call our crematorium operator Roy "our" Dr. Doolittle because he really has a way with birds. This photo shows him with one of his luncheon guests - a Blue Jay.

Roy is also friends with our resident hawk who we have named Sir Richard. We recently got this great photo of Sir Richard completing amazing acrobats and catching his dinner on the fly - a chicken leg thrown up by Roy.

Next time you stop by, take a moment to look for our birds and maybe you'll even find Roy and Sir Richard enjoying some time together!

Stained Glass Window Restoration is Complete!

In April of 2011, we started the restoration process of the two large stained glass windows in our mausoleum. Constructed in 1935 the mausoleum has been a large part of history at Loma Vista Memorial Park. Over the past 77 years, the stained glass windows have seen golf balls and baseballs pass through leaving holes of various sizes. The lead which encased the stained glass and was the main support began to buckle and deteriorate. Clearly it was time to take on the project of restoration.

We enlisted the master craftsmanship of Sister Marie Tatina of Artistic Designs Enterprise in San Marcos, California. She was our wonderful guiding light in this project. She has 34 years of experience in this field and her work speaks for itself.
